Theory Supply

The careful management of supply and demand involves supplying items that are needed to complete a level (such as ammunition or health points) at the latest possible moment. The player should be continually concerned about running out of these items without being in the frustrating situation of lacking them completely. This creates a strong sense of tension and encourages the player to explore the level for new items and to be more careful when using his/her existing stock (Bleszinski 2001b). As the player, is indirectly encouraged, s/he still has a sense of individuality.
