What is an instinctive prompt
- Player perform certain actions instinctively.
- An instinctive prompt takes advantage of player instincts.
Player perform certain actions instinctively. For example, if a player see a large object that looks breakable, it is almost certain that s/he will destroy it.
By taking advantage of the player's instincts, the player can be guided and direct to certain areas in a subtle manner. This avoids the need for signs, visual/verbal instructions or NPCs to guide the player, which prevents the player from feeling that the game is telling him/her what to do.
Instinctive prompts allow players to feel that they are playing the game as opposed to being played by the game.
